CAST-IN-PLACE Lining System

Why choose a CAST-IN-PLACE Lining System? The CAST-IN-PLACE Lining System is a specially formulated masonry product developed from field and laboratory research. The mix is manufactured and maintained at a precise ratio, matching tested formulas.

CAST-IN-PLACE Lining System

CAST-IN-PLACE Lining System is made from a naturally insulated material which eliminates most heat transfers. Heat transfer is the number one cause of structural fires.

CAST-IN-PLACE Lining System eliminates most third degree creosote and withstands temperatures in excess of 2100 F. A bonder is used for allowing the mixture to adhere on surfaces covered with creosote. Refined perlite is added for better insulation value. A plastercizer is added to improve the mixing and flowability of CAST-IN-PLACE Lining System. This flowability is important for sealing voids, cracks and for structurally strengthening the chimney. Other poured liners on the market don't have this valuable characteristic . Air intrainment, another ingredient, creates tiny air bubbles which allow the mix to expand and contract within itself, without cracking.

First Install process
Technical Data

This lining process has been successfully tested by Underwriter's Laboratories to the U.L. 1777 Standard and is listed for use in masonry chimneys with zero-clearance to combustible materials. The testing consisted of thermal shock, heat test, freeze/thaw, compressive strength, acid resistancy and a sweep test. U.L. Report No. 68M4

Installation:

SURFACE PREPARATION: The inside of the chimney must be cleaned and reasonably free from exhaust by-product residue, loose mortar and debris. If the chimney presently has a liner, it must be removed. The only exception is if the liner is clay tile and it is mortar encased. In any situation a minimum of 1-1/2" flue wall thickness must be maintained.

METHOD OF APPLICATION: The lining/relining system is a simple 2 -step process. First, a lightweight insulating concrete liner is applied under horizontal pressure by a bell shaped forms containing a vibrator. Second Install processThe properly sized vibrating form forces the lining material horizontally as it is being winched upward. The wedging effect of the bell form and the vibrator forces the lining material into every crack and crevice strengthening the chimney from within. Because the first liner is an insulator, flue gasses will maintain a higher temperature, in turn, reducing condensation or by-product residue.

The second liner is a thin protective glazing that cures to a very hard finish. This hard finish will prevent harmful acid and condensation moisture from attacking the first liner insulator. After the first liner has been properly cured, a foam rubber applicator is positioned in the top of the flue. The second liner mix is poured over the foam rubber applicator and the applicator is lowered down the flue. The glaze-like second liner is absorbed into the first liner and coats the entire flue surface including horizontal openings at thimble and cleanout door locations. The foam rubber applicator is removed through the cleanout door or fireplace opening. The second liner may also be applied by spraying.

Most liners are created in a single pour, no matter what the chimney height or diameter.
